For CC practice, the team either practices at the Battle Lake track or at Glendalough State Park. Most pratices start with a half mile warm-up jog, followed by stretching and plyo's. We have a variety of main workouts to choose from (listed below). After we run our main workout, the team cools down with a half mile jog, and stretching. Twice a week we do Ab workouts at the end of practice. We try to get in between 4-7 miles every practice, depending on the workout.

Main Workouts We do:

  • Hill Sprints (once a week)
  • Long Distance Speed Workout (in preseason or in a week with no meets)
  • Middle Distance Speed Workout (once a week)
  • Short Distance Speed Workout (once a week)
  • Long Slow Distance (days before and after meets)

At meets, Junior High Boys and Girls (grades 7-9) run a 2 mile (3200 meter) race. Varsity and JV Girls run a 4k (2.5 miles) and the Boys Varsity and JV run a 5k (3.1 miles). Meets tend to take place on golf courses. The wind, temperature, rain, snow, and terrain of the course can adversly affect a meet and the times the runners get.
