Reminder
Wednesday, May 5th is a Distance Learning Work Day (from 8:20-noon) for all K-12 students. No live in-person or virtual classes will take place on this day. Students will be given tasks to complete by their teachers. We will return to a normal school day on Thursday.
Kudos to the UHS Student Council for organizing a fun-filled week of “Spring Homecoming” activities, starting with a Homecoming Coronation Ceremony on today. Entertainment was provided by the UHS Garage Band. Congrats to newly crowned Queen & King, Libby Nelson & Krosby Aasness

The 1st Graders had a blast today helping spread seed out on the Prairie! They were able to see lots of active wildlife today also!!
Rocket speakers Hannah Radzwill, Libby Nelson & Tyler Herr excel at the State Speech Tournament with all three earning Top 8 finishes. Hannah earned 8th place in Discussion, Tyler earned 8th place in Storytelling & Libby earned 2nd place in Prose!!! Way to go Rockets!!
Prom Night at Underwood High School took place on Saturday night. It was great to see our juniors and seniors all dressed up and looking very stylish. Grand March took place with 34 couples making the circuit around the Underwood Gym. Prom Queens & Kings were also crowned. All in all, an enjoyable & memorable night for our juniors and seniors.
BIG Day for Rocket speakers Hannah Radzwill (Discussion), Libby Nelson (Prose) and Tyler Herr (Storytelling) — all are headed to the final round of the MSHSL State Speech Tournament!! Way to go Rocket speakers!! Finals results will be shared later.
The 2nd graders celebrated Earth Day by picking trash in the ditches along the road!
The Friends of the Fergus Falls Library visited today bearing gifts to thank our elementary students for participating in the Earth Day Coloring Contest, in conjunction with celebrating Earth Day!! Check out the picture of our 4th Graders showing their excitement in their prize!!

Underwood 3rd Grade students did presentations on the Solar System on Wednesday. Students in person learning and distance learning participated. Great job!
The 4th grade is enjoying their embryology lessons each week. Last week we set the eggs in the incubator. This week, we tested the strength of the shells . We had two students and Mr. Hovland stand on the eggs to see how much weight they could hold.

UHS's Speech Team had an excellent showing at the Section 6A Speech Tournament yesterday qualifying three students for the State Speech Tournament. FIVE Rocket Speakers advanced to the final round of the section tournament with Libby Nelson earning Prose Champion, Tyler Herr earning Storytelling Champion, Hannah Radzwill earning 3rd place in Discussion, Cole Peterson earning 5th place in Extemporaneous Speaking and Rowan Finseth earning 5th place in Extemporaneous Reading. Libby, Tyler and Hannah move on and will compete in the State Speech Tournament on Saturday, April 24! Congratulations to ALL of our speakers and Good Luck at State to Libby, Tyler & Hannah.
Underwood 5th Graders from Mr. Rogers classroom were pretty excited and proud to show off their volcano projects by testing their project’s eruption capabilities. Definitely a great “hands on” learning experience for these students.

Congrats to Underwood School’s Brian Hovland on being selected to serve as an Assistant Coach at the upcoming MN State All-Star Football Game. A very deserving honor for our very dedicated and hard working coach, AD and Dean of Students.

It was a beautiful day at the prairie! Underwood 3rd graders helped restore the prairie at Prairie Wetlands Learning Center by planting seeds they harvested last spring.
